Kyle Wengler

Inspired by the world that surrounds us, Kyle emulates what he has experienced through his own filter. Never intending to depict any specific object or setting but combining the parts that he finds intriguing into new created abstract landscapes. Using many tools and techniques, he creates detailed works that are heightened by the flawed sleight of the human hand and unpredictability of materials.

Each individual has created a unique environment around themselves leading to an equally unique relationship with color, line, and form.  Kyle’s works can be a reflection of these personal spaces through their familiar colors and imagery, while still remaining new to the audience. Bold line and bright color are the cornerstone of his artistic voice, chosen from a pallet inspired by popular mega brands, media conglomerates and cultural icons. Such as Fisher Price, Apple, Google, Microsoft, Disney just to name a few. These types of corporations have controlled much of the imagery in entertainment and marketing and have evolved the technique of grabbing an audience through visual stimulation.

Kyle’s process is an endless search to build an alphabet of techniques and compositional tools. Through which he builds a voice and style that is instantly recognizable and draws in viewers with boldness and use of materials. He researches techniques and materials, new types of aerosols and airbrushes, innovations in paints and mediums, even drafting tools. The process has become at times almost mechanical, most likely in direct influence of working on cars with his dad and long line of engineers in the gene pool.

To sum it up, Kyle’s work is evidence of the technological evolution that has taken place throughout his life. He is directly influenced by television, design and marketing with which the world is becoming ever more saturated with. His work has become a commentary on the duality of artificial technology and natural human error within creation, and through my process he looks to continue to explore that.
